We have a choice – go through life in resistance or go through life in yielding. Which one sounds easier?
All great martial artists know that yield means power, strength and peace. To approach confrontation in a yielding manner usually defuses the tension and potential violence. To meet aggression and confrontation with resistance and force usually results in violence and a bad outcome.
Yield is the ability to NOT FORCE but allow energy to bypass or go through you. Let’s look at two types of yielding:
1. A bypass of external force is to twist your body to avoid it and even accelerate the force away from you.
2. Force passing through you. An example of allowing force to internally pass through is to ‘yield’ that part of your body that the force is being exerted on.
